HBP

Hurrah! Finished! Unlike most I waited until the middle of the day instead of camping out for the 9am launch (I know! bad fandom boy Andrew!). Unfortunately I didn't remain spoiler free thanks to someone on my msn list making up a wild theory about what happened, putting it in their msn name, and then being right about it. :( Anyways, my Non-Spoiler Comments are as follows:

1. OHO!

My spoiler comments are, because I don't want anyone to kill me, behind the cut SPOILERS FOR WHOLE BOOK, READ AT OWN RISK!!:

This book I found very, very cool. OotP seemed like a disappointment to me, and so I was very anxious about this book and whether it would work or be sucky. Then I read the first chapter. Wow.

The first few chapters of the random other-character-stuff were pretty cool, the Ministers, Bella and Narcissa, all worth it. The Dursleys seem to be getting less and less significant characters as the books progress, but I suppose there is only so much "Harry angsts because his Aunt and Uncle don't love him" that you can do.

Draco actually having character was a good thing, except I just found him as an annoyance at the start of the book, but the whole Myrtle thing was a lot of fun, and then the curse and the blood and the end with Dumbledore I was just wanted to yell "STOP MONOLOGUING!!" (sp?)

Harry/Ginny - Okay WHATTHE?! I mean yes it was sorta there, but WHY? and then why do we actually get it and then Harry has to break it off to be all noble!? I think Book 7 should be Harry, Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Neville and Luna all wandering around the countryside blowing stuff up, not just our trio of cool. I also think that once again Ron/Hermione is being shoved in our face but we're not actually every going to get it. Also LAVENDER?! There are so many pairing that occured in this book that I want to put in capitals with exclamation marks and question marks after them!

Dumbledore - he was Mr Exposition for most of the book, which was kinda irritating, since it seemed to be all he ever does - act noble and Expositionise. Then there was the Cave and the Astronomy Tower and it was all "aww maybe he is kinda cool", and I dare anyone to say the funeral at the end wasn't even a little bit sad. I am however intrigued as to who got the Locket first, I have a strange feeling he will be the new Mr Exposition for the 7th book. He should get to do an Exposition Song.

The little soul-container things (I dont have the book on me right now so I forget their name) - I like the idea of them, ESPECIALLY the fact that they're going to end up being Founder-related. I remember the good ol' days when I was RPing and everything I wanted to make storylineish was all about the Founders. I am however annoyed that the Ravenclaw item has had no mention as to what it might be. We know about all these Slytherin items, we got to see a Huffle item, we've had the Gryffindor sword for 4 books but NO RAVENCLAW!!

In conclusion, I want to marry this book and have its babies. Especially if those babies are in the form of the 7th book. I want to know what comes next! I want Hermione and Ron to not die and be safe and Harry have a big explodey death killing Voldie. Most of all I want it to be a fun adventure like the first few books, being a little bit grown up without trying to be dark. We had dark. It wasn't that great, and now we have HBP which is nowhere near as dark as OotP, but at the same time it felt a lot more grown up to me than the last few books.

I also think/hope Book7 is a lot about coming of age - Harry leaving behind Privet Drive and Hogwarts and Godric's Hollow and moving on to the big wide world and realising that he's got to save the world and that he ain't a kid being protected by parents or Godfathers or Headmasters anymore. It seems to be what the end of HBP was leading up to, in some ways it seems like what the whole series has been leading up to. As much as I don't want it all to end, I can't wait to see how JK finishes it all off....

Peace Out.

P.S. I promise I will try to update about real life at some point too...
